It’s no accident that Basil’s menu has an Eastern Shore flavor; Maryland used to be home for owners Kevin and Tanya Halligan – he graduated from the University of Maryland and she ran a yacht club there for 10 years. They opened Basil’s eight years ago with the intention of bringing a taste of the coast to the Sandhills. This is seafood at its freshest – lightly breaded and perfectly cooked, in a casual, fine dining atmosphere. Menu offerings include scallops, shrimp, oysters, and fish, but crab rules. Starters include Maryland Crab Balls or Stuffed Mushroom Caps with Crab Imperial and Crab Cakes reign on the dinner menu.
